Can you take Motor-homes? |
Yes we do take motor-homes, with tents or awnings. |
What's your Top Tip? |
Please stick to the park rules, especially those about noise after 10.30 p.m. It annoys other customers and the management! |

Yes the water from the stand pipes around the site is drinking water. |
Can we park by our tent? |
Yes you can park your car by your tent. |
Are there sea views? |
There are fantastic views of the sea from Sea Barn Farm. You can also see the Chesil Beach. The beach itself is separated from the mainland by the Fleet Lagoon which stretches from Portland to Abbotsbury. |
Is there access to the Fleet Shore? |
You can get to the shore of the Fleet (an inland stretch of water open to the sea) from Sea Barn Farm. There are several paths from the camping park to the Fleet and, depending on how fast you walk, takes 5 to 10 minutes. |
Can you swim in the Fleet or off Chesil Beach? |
Swimming is not recommended from Chesil Beach or in the Fleet. It is dangerous because of strong currents. Go to Weymouth Bay or West Bay instead. Chesil Beach is best for fishing, walking and just sitting and watching! |
Is fishing allowed in the Fleet? |
You are not allowed to fish in most of the Fleet Lagoon, including the area surrounding Sea Barn and West Fleet Farms (the areas known as the East Fleet and the West Fleet). The Fleet is an important nature reserve and angling is not permitted except in a specific area at the Portland end of the lagoon, East of an area known as "The Narrows". At some times of year you will see local fishermen setting nets in pursuit of eels on the Fleet. This is a tradition that is probably centuries old and requires a permit. If angling is your thing, we recommend heading towards Weymouth, Portland or West Bay. All the land under the Fleet Lagoon and the land between high and low water marks on this part of the Fleet is owned by Ilchester Estates and part of the Fleet and Chesil Nature Reserve which manages it. |
Is fishing allowed on Chesil Beach? |
You can fish off the Chesil Beach (you will need to go to Portland or Abbotsbury to do so). Many locals enjoy fishing for mackerel and other species off the Chesil Bank. Some have boats along the Fleet Shore which they are allowed to use to cross the Fleet. You have to have a licence to use any boat on the Fleet. There is an outright ban on sails and motors. |
Can you launch boats on the Fleet? |
No. You can’t take boats or canoes on the Fleet. But if you are heading to Weymouth, Portland or West Bay (Bridport) or anywhere else with your water craft (except jet skis), you are welcome to stay at Sea Barn Farm. |
